I lived in America from 2008 until 2014. Here are my five favorite American things.
1. My wife.
Obviously.
2. Red Robin
Oh, Red Robin. A burger joint that serves alcohol. A burger joint that serves endless fries. Yes, that’s right; endless fries. You need never go hungry again. My favorite burger is the Royal Red Robin. It comes with bacon, cheese, and a fried egg on top. Yum.
3. Walgreens
For the uninitiated, Walgreens is like the American version of Boots and Superdrug combined, only better. They have an amazingly fast and efficient photo service and the staff are awesome. My local Walgreens staff knew my name! (Yeah. I went there a lot).
4. The roads
So. Much. Space. British roads are too narrow and curvy and slow. I miss the open roads of America, with their six lanes and straight lines and stop signs.
5. Diner breakfasts
I was going to put diners here, but actually, I need to be specific. It is diner breakfasts that I love. The choices of ten different kinds of toast, ten different kinds of eggs, the skillets, the hash browns, the home fries… and the option of having steak for breakfast if you want. Gives a whole new meaning to the word brunch.
Bonus item: Spelling
Yes, American spelling is easier than British spelling. No, I did not misspell favourite today.
