Mr Brightside

When I was younger, I used to dress to blend into the background. I did not want to draw attention to myself, so I wore mostly black and white or grey clothes. Bland was my camouflage.

But then something changed.

For at least the past decade, I have been consciously choosing to wear bright colours.

Why? Perhaps it was because my hair turned grey. Maybe I felt more confident after getting married. It could be because I didn’t care as much about what people thought of how I looked. Perhaps I wanted to stand out from the crowd.

The brighter the colours I wear, the more confident I feel. It’s good for my mental health.

Whatever the reason, life on the bright side is more fun.
