Vintage Vinyl: Whitney Houston

Here’s another dose of vintage vinyl from the charity shop!

This time I found Whitney Houston’s massive debut album from 1985.

I was 11 at the time, and although I was aware of this album and the hits, it wasn’t really my cup of tea.

How Will I Know was too girly, while Saving All My Love For You & Greatest Love Of All were far too slushy for my tastes.

In fact, I didn’t really appreciate Whitney until her next album came out, with the irresistible I Wanna Dance With Somebody.

I didn’t listen to her debut album at all until after her death. In retrospect, who knew what life had in store for the young singer on the cover of this album? Drowning in a bath tub was surely the last thing anyone could have imagined.

What a voice.
