OK, OK, I’ve been doing this Twenty Albums in Twenty Days thing on Facebook, but I figured, what the hell, we’re in lockdown so I might as well share those albums on here, too.
I mean, now is as good a time as any to listen to music, right?
We have weeks and months stretched out before us, so we can make our own soundtracks to isolation, and try listening to music that perhaps we previously overlooked or had forgotten.
So, Day Eight: Santigold by Santigold

This album seemed to jump out of nowhere in 2008 and immediately grabbed my attention. It refuses to be defined by genre; there are elements of electro, new wave, ska, punk, pop and dub. Sounds like a headache? It’s not. It’s a wonderful eclectic mix, that upon release, sounded vaguely influenced by M.I.A. but to my ears is infinitely better.
Give yourself a treat and play this album loud today. You deserve it.
