Black Music Month: Frankie Knuckles

June is Black Music Month.

Today I’m celebrating Frankie Knuckles, The Godfather of House Music.

He played a massive role in developing house music in the 1980s, as well as working as a DJ, remixer and producer.

His mix of Where Love Lives is one of my all-time favourite tracks.

Similarly, his remix of Chaka Khan’s Ain’t Nobody is euphoric.

I also love this remix of Janet Jackson & Luther Vandross’ The Best Things In Life Are Free; another classic.

Without Frankie Knuckles we wouldn’t have had the house music that we know and love.
