Here are the books I read during August. What did you read?
Railhead by Philip Reeve

Railhead tells the story of Zen Starling, a thief who rides the intergalactic railways, in this futuristic slice of teen fiction.
Blurb on the back:
Once Zen was just a petty thief, stealing to support his family and living by his wits. Now everything has changed. Zen is still a thief – but it could be that the key to the whole universe rests on finding out what else he is…
Having a lovely time by Jenny Eclair

This has genuinely laugh out loud moments and kept me entertained on the beach.
Blurb on the back:
Joe Dobson left his wife and kids when his girlfriend Nina discovered she was pregnant. Now he feels like a cliche and Nina feels like a drudge. So when Joe announces that he’s booked a luxury in Tuscany, Nina is thrilled – until she realises Joe’s kids are coming along for the ride.
Guy Jamieson is sure this will be his last family holiday: he plans to leave his wife Alice and their two sons on his return. Alice – with her elasticated skirts, inedible mince suppers and unshaven legs – just doesn’t fit Guy’s self-image. But Alice has a secret plan of her own: to have another baby…
Doctor Who: The Thirteenth Doctor’s Guide

Which, rather confusingly, is actually a guide to all the doctors so far. Nevertheless, this is a brilliant book which my kids have also dipped into.
For the uninitiated, this book outlines every Doctor Who so far, their main foes, companions, key stories and each regeneration.
Definitely contains spoilers!
