A to Z Best 90s Albums: True Spirit

T is for True Spirit by Carleen Anderson

Released in 1994, the album spawned the hits Mama Said, Nervous Breakdown and True Spirit.

Before going solo, Anderson had success with Young Disciples, best known for their hit Apparently Nothin’. They pioneered the new “acid jazz” sound.

Later, there was also a companion remix album, called rather unimaginatively: The Remixes and The B-sides.
