Well, it got me in the end.
After two years of dodging, covid finally infected me this week via my son who caught it at school.
The first few days felt like a bad case of flu: aches, chills, pains, fatigue.
Here’s what I’ve been doing to comfort myself.
- Eating well. Today I made myself a feast of a lunch: harissa roasted sprouts with lemon tahini yogurt and drizzled with pomegranate juice, using this recipe. Yum. I’ve been craving warm, spicy food and this hit the spot. I’ve also been eating a lot of canned pineapple, because that’s what I want to eat when I’m ill, but that’s another story.

2. Reading well. I’ve treated myself to the new Elle McNicoll book Like A Charm and have been taking my sweet time with it, savouring the story. Still only half-way through, reading it in small doses each day.

3. Listening well. The day after I got my positive PCR result back, one of my favourite singers released his new album. Perfect timing! I’ve been listening to Islands by Josef Salvat every day since. It’s the pop music you need right now.

So, if you need me, I’ll be on the sofa under a blanket, eating sprouts, reading a book and listing to music until I’m better.
Hope you get to feeling better soon!

Thank you! Pretty much fully recovered now, thankfully.
