It was quite a shock yesterday to learn that Madonna’s Ray of Light album is now twenty years old; where have all those years gone? I was twenty-four then; in many ways, I still feel that age, as if I’m somehow stuck in 1998. If anything, it feels more like a decade ago, not two decades. Picture it: Christmas Day 1991, I was seventeen years old and received my first CD player. It was a portable one, called a discman, that could be plugged into a stereo system or used like a walkman.
