We went to the cinema today for the first time since lockdown began.

But it was no ordinary cinema.

No, it was a drive-in cinema.

Oh yes.

When I was a kid, my only knowledge of drive-in cinemas was the one I had seen in The Flintstones cartoons.

My first experience of a real drive-in cinema was when my wife and I were dating, in Ohio, and we watched the underwhelming Over The Hedge.

Until today, I hadn’t been to another one since.

We took our children to watch the original Star Wars movie, at a drive-in cinema in Goodwood, England, hosted by Secret Cinema.

Well, I say the original Star Wars movie, but actually, this was the bastardised remastered version from 1997 when George Lucas re-edited it and added in totally unnecessary scenes and tweaked some special effects.

But other than that little gripe, it was a fun experience.

We even ordered food to be delivered to our car, y’know the required burgers, fries, hotdogs, popcorn and ice cream.

We don’t like to do things by halves.
