Here’s a round-up of what I’ve been up to this week!

I finally returned to work after a period of self-isolation which was triggered when I came into contact with a covid-positive case in my classroom. Thankfully I didn’t develop any symptoms.

I’m still reading Keith Richards’ memoir, Life. He writes vividly about his London upbringing, and his early love of playing guitar. I’ve reached the part where he met Mick Jagger for the first time, as a teenager. I wonder what will happen next? Will they form a band? Will they hit the big time? No spoilers…

I’ve been easing covid-stress by listening to The Beloved a lot. They were one of my favourite bands in the 90’s and their music continues to sooth my soul. It’s just so uplifting.

There was much excitement at home this weekend when we bought some more fish and the TARDIS materialised in the fish tank. We are a family of Doctor Who fans and can’t get enough merch.

I’m also still reading Once Upon a River by Diane Setterfield. It’s such a rich, mysterious story that I don’t want to rush it, however tempting it is to get swept away with the river’s current.

My wife and I devoured the whole of season 4 of The Crown this week. What a story. I remember many of the events from my childhood; I remember Diana being on the front pages of the newspapers every day, I remember the Thatcher years, I remember press stories about the breakdown of Charles’ and Diana’s marriage.
